H&M Blacknitride+™ makes parts their most durable, so when original equipment manufacturers (OEM) want parts to last, they call us. Traditionally, steel parts are strengthened using a chroming process that coats the steel part. Hard chrome, however, can flake or chip, leaving the steel exposed to corrosion. H&M Blacknitride+™ offers better protection. The fluid power industry chooses nitriding over hard chrome because parts are exposed to water and other fluids that could harm the part’s structural integrity. OEMs choose nitriding to protect parts that are exposed to harsh conditions where the steel needs to keep its original dimensional form.
